• National Society for the Promotion of OT was a group of people that had diverse job titles (nurse, physician, architect, psychiatrist, etc) 

- Occupational Therapy(OT) “officially” created in 1917

- National Society for the Promotion of OT is now referred to as the American Occupational Therapy Association 

• Dr. Williams Rush Dunton is known as the “Father of OT”

• Eleanor Clark Slagle is known as the “Mother of OT”

• OT  grew exponentially due to WW1 and the consequences of war

• OT has made a huge impact for Americans since it’s birth in 1917
